Flag Colombia Flag On sale
The current flag of Colombia was officially adopted on December 17, 1819. The flag features three horizontal bands of yellow (double-width), blue and red. Colors of the flag are commonly interpreted with a very popular children's song: yellow represents the gold Colombia once owned until the arrival of the Spanish, blue indicates the country's contact with two oceans and red represents the blood that Colombians spent in their struggle for independence from Spain.

Francisco de Miranda created the common yellow, blue and red flag of Gran Colombia that the States of Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela, with a few variations, use today.
It is a horizontal tricolour of yellow, blue and red. The yellow stripe takes up the top half of the flag and the blue and red take up the bottom half of the flag. It is a triband flag with horizontal bands of yellow, blue and red.
The meaning of the colors is:
Yellow: Represents the riches of the country, the wealth of the Colombian soil, the gold, sovereignty, harmony, justice and agriculture, as well as the Sun, the source of Light.
Blue: represents the seas on Colombia's shores, the rivers that run through, and the sky above.
Red: represents the blood spilled for Colombia's independence and the attempt of the Colombians, their determination and perseverance. It also means that they struggled, but they have thrived.
Although, the flag has other representatives such as blue for loyalty and vigilance, red for winning the wars for the independence of Colombia, and finally yellow for sovereignty and justice.
